I'm remodeling a kitchen and have a wiring question?

I took down a wall in a kitchen and will need to run the previous wires through a different wall, which isn’t a problem, except for the oven wire which is going to the same spot but is just a bit too short to get to the oven now that’s it’s going through a different wall.
I was wondering if there was any way to splice in a 4 foot section of new wire to accomplish this or if I’m going to have to buy a new one to run the entire length. The only reason I ask is that it’s obviously larger.

Thanks,

We are going to be remodeling our kitchen?

and bathroom soon. I was wondering if there is a place to donate our old appliances/tub, toilet, sink(s), etc. There are all in great to good shape and I’d hate to just throw them into the dump.

What should I know when having someone work on my home or car when I cannot do it myself?

I’m not particularly skilled at any one trade but I know how to use basic tools like wrenches, hammers, saws, screwdrivers, and measuring tape for minor vehicle maintenanc ( only wrenches and screw drivers for vehicle repairs) or home improvements. I can change the oil, oil filter, brake pads, air filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires on my truck (relatively minor things) but the more advanced stuff (computer controlled wiring, fixing head gaskets, cylynders, transmissions, etc) I am not skilled at, plus I don’t have my own garage. Around the house, I can tighten fixtures such as toilet paper holders, towel holders, faucets, etc and fix broken furniture when the damage is minor. What should I do so that I don’t get taken advantage of by some unscrupulous mechanic, carpenter, plumber, sheetrock contractor or electrician (I have been the victim of one once), when it comes to more advanced repairs and building work that I’m not as skilled at? What laws should I be aware of?

We are remodeling our kitchen and want to get the best appliances?

We have been living with appliances that need repairs and gentle coaxing just to work. In your opinion what brand and models have the best value with out going into high scale high prices? The items we hope to get will be; dual ovens, dishwasher, refrigerator, an island type range top with down draft vent and last but not least a cabinet mount microwave.

Thanks in advance…

Suing a limited liability company?

Estimating the True Costs of Home Improvement?

I am watching the home improvement and flipping shows to get ideas of the costs of upgrading my home in order to sell sometime in the future (my job will require me to move at some point and I want my home ready when and if it does).

When they show -THIS is how much it cost & THIS is the return on that investment- I think, "huh….I can afford to do more than I imagined."

But I am wondering/doubting if those costs are true.

Do programs like that show the materials ONLY costs? or perhaps the contractor discounted costs?

Is there a place on-line or a reference that would give me a truer idea of the cost of home improvements… materials, labor, the whole thing?

remodeling kitchen?

Hi, I bought an old house that has brick in the kitchen, I want to keep the brick, it has been painted white. I am remodeling the house in a cabin style. I would love suggestions on how to redo the bricks. I almost forgot on a budget as well. Thanks!

If I have a home improvement loan and the construction takes longer than expected, what happens?

I live in the State of Texas and recently obtained a home improvement loan for a house I purchased. The contract and lien that I signed with the bank stated that the improvements would have to be completed within 60 days of execution of the contract. Between the bad weather we’ve had and the contractor’s other work, it’s looking like the project will span beyond the 60 days stated.

My question is…what happens? I’ve made my payments on the loan, but the bank is going to want a lien release at the end of 60 days, which the contractor will not provide, as the work hasn’t been completed. I’m just wondering what the bank is going to do when 60 days gets here and the work hasn’t been completed yet? I don’t want to get screwed because my contractor took too long to complete the work.

We donated our existing kitchen cabinets when remodeling – need to figure out tax deductible amount?

The kitchen cabinets we donated were still in great condition. ItsDeductible didn’t provide any baseline for this type of donation. So I’m not sure what value to declare. Is there any guidance on this?
